Facing the Future Conference

Where: Li Ka Shing Center, Stanford University, 291 Campus Drive, Stanford, CA 94305, on both the 1st and 2nd floors

Subject matter: Planning and supports for adults with substantially disabling autism and related developmental disabilities. Themes include: legal planning, financial planning, public benefits, regional center services, self determination, housing, medical and dental care, psychiatric care, behavior and communication therapy, recreation and social growth, family and parent wellness, staffing, advocacy and policy, and other topics that relate to the quality of life. (For neurodiversity-related topics please check out the Stanford Neurodiversity Project conferences.)

Who should attend: The target audience is parents, caregivers, family members and professionals who have responsibilities to plan and care for late teens and adults with autism and related DDs.

Format: The conference features a large resource fair in the main hall and a variety of presentations in 7 classrooms across 6 sessions (9am, 10am, 11am, 1pm, 2pm, 3pm). There will be considerable repeats built into the schedule to allow attendees more opportunities to attend their preferred sessions.

Recordings: Because there are no plenary sessions this year, we are not offering virtual attendance options. However we will work with the classroom speakers to provide videos of most of the presentations. These will be available on the SFASA YouTube channel approximately two weeks after the conference.
