Psychotherapy

Licensed therapists play a critical role in supporting the emotional development and well being of our students. They work with classroom teachers to develop proactive Behavioral Support Plans for all students. These plans provide consistency to behavioral interventions, identify appropriate environmental supports, and guide the teaching of self-regulatory strategies to our students. Topic-specific social groups are formed throughout the year to address such issues as peer relationships, hygiene, the vocabulary of emotions, and frustration tolerance. Some students receive individual therapy focusing on relationship issues, social stories, and behavior at home, school, and the community. Our therapists also interface with the community of professionals who work with our students outside the school.
