Improv Troupe Performs at Oak Hill

Dan Weil, a familiar face at Oak Hill, returned on Wednesday with an improv troupe from his school, the California Institute of Graduate Studies. Dan is a drama therapy major, and their program was called Playback Theater. They improvised based on stories from the audience and the feelings connected to them. It was a meaningful experience and students and staff loved it. Thank you Dan Weil!

Student Run Business Selling Holiday Cards!

Artist and Oak Hill graduate Abe Tabas has created a variety of new holiday cards for the upcoming season. They are available at Oak Hill (look for a display and an order form in the front office) or at Abe’s website,www.artabas.com. Cards cost $2.00 each and they are 4.25″ X 5.5″. Envelopes are included. There are over fifteen cards available. Here are some featured selections:

Rock Stars at Marin Food Bank

Laura Leones and the Rock Star class volunteered for one hour at the Marin Food Bank on Tuesday. This was the first visit for this group, and they will continue to do this work once per week. The group was given a tour of the facility, met some of the other volunteers, and got an understanding of some of the work that Marin Food Bank does in the community. Students bagged produce for grocery bags that will be delivered to seniors and families with children in Marin. They also sorted canned goods. Our work with this organization is another important partnership for Oak Hill. Kathleen O’Hara did the organization and groundwork to get this started. Thank you Kathleen!

From now through the holiday season Oak Hill will host a food collection barrel to be delivered weekly to Marin Food Bank. Please leave canned goods or other food items in the barrel located in the main office.

Pride Class at Art Abloom!

Physical Education at Oak Hill: Supporting the Needs of All Our Students

Physical Education takes on many forms at Oak Hill, across age levels and ability. In every case, the benefits of physical activity are many: improving stamina and core strength, developing cardiovascular fitness, coordinating the parts of our bodies to perform complicated tasks, and relating to others as members of a team. We engage in physical activities during PE class and beyond as structured movement often helps support learning readiness. Below you’ll see some snapshots of physical education at Oak Hill.

Oak Hill Student Starts New Job at Woodlands Market!

The folks at Woodlands Market are fortunate to have Alex helping out. His first day of work was Wednesday. Brett Mitchell, Kathleen O’Hara, and many others have worked hard to build relationships with local businesses so that our students can practice job skills in the context of authentic employment. Alex will be an asset to this business, and this relationship will be an asset to our program. Support Woodland Market when you get the chance!
